The Department has established the following seven educational objectives:

Enable students to acquire foundational and specialized knowledge in political science, economics, and political economy, and to apply political-economic theory to analyze social phenomena and public policy. |

Enable students to understand the history of ideas and philosophical thought in political science and economics, develop a broad humanistic perspective, and apply classical thought to analyze and address current issues. |

Enable students to learn and integrate across fields and to apply specialized knowledge in political science and economics to other fields. |
